Our History

Starting as a small family farm, Online Turf has been a part of the local farming community since 1933. When the agricultural industry in Britain began to decline and become less profitable, as with many farms across the country the need to diversify became apparent. Then Partners, and now Directors Ian and Andrew made the brave decision to diversify into turf production and although it was a big step at the time, it proved to be a wise decision.

Since this decision in 1989, Online Turf has gone from strength to strength. Originally focused on the North West of England, we now deliver turf right across the UK. The farm has grown from 40 acres to 600 acres and continues to expand and modernise, with Spring 2015 seeing the arrival of a brand new Turf Harvester to keep up with demand and quality.

Although Online Turf has now grown a lot since the family business began, directors Ian and Andrew Mercer still have a hands-on approach to running the company. Now, along with their growing team of over 20 employees, the busy office and yard runs smoothly.

Our Quality

Based in Lancashire, we are very lucky to have the finest sandy soils perfect for growing turf, usually around 80-90% sand. Along with this, our specially selected grass seeds are of the highest quality STRI rated cultivars to meet our high standards.

We provide a weed-free quality guarantee on delivery* so you can be confident that you are buying top quality turf, and we sell and deliver only freshly lifted turf. Our online help videos and after-care emails then ensure that your turf gets off to the best start in its new surroundings.

Our Customers

By offering a next day delivery service to domestic properties, our customers consist mainly of domestic customers. We also supply turf to professional landscapers, along with golf courses across the UK. The quality of our turf and service is proven when landscapers repeatedly choose our company and the reviews and photos that customers take time to send us show how pleased they are with their new lawn.
